TyLean: News

Ummm... No. Back in Northern Ireland. - February 20, 2009

Nashville is going to have to wait a bit, because I moved back to Northern Ireland last week. It was something that was decided and acted upon very hastily based on technicalities in immigration laws. I am living in a little town called Carrickfergus, just North of Belfast, and although it is lovely, there is not much here to be offered to someone in my field. I have no idea how long I will be here.

Instrumentless and located in a pit of nothingness, I don't foresee much music making happening until I leave. The two albums I am working on - once of which is SO near completion - are just going to have to wait. While I am here, I will be working on writing from the written-word perspective.

HAHA... but not for long! - January 20, 2009

It's been decided... I'm moving to Nashville! (In March). I'm speechless over the number of people contacting me offering everything you can imagine to assist in getting established down there. If you are a musician, music industry professional, journalist, DJ, or a fan, I would love to hear from you: tylean@tylean.com.

I love Southern hospitality!

Back in Pennsylvania - December 29, 2008

Well.... after a year in England, a few months in Belfast, and some time gallivanting in the American South... I am now back home in Pennsylvania, planning for a show in Allentown on January 29th.

Belfast - November 9, 2008

I'm in Belfast!

Radical Changes - August 8, 2008

Whoa Baby... has The Unforgivable, the Unforgettable mutated DRAMATICALLY in the last few weeks! Only a handful of the songs originally selected for the album have remained. This album - which could possibly become an EP and not a full album - is going to be very different from the previous albums. Each song will address a particular person or event that forever changed my life. I am capturing as much of the album as I can in live performance style recording - sans audience. I've never record (myself) this way, and I am finding the intimacy and passion levels oozing through the tracks!

Any of you fortunate enough to have caught some of those live performances a few years ago might recall the creepy a'cappella that I opened with - "October." Well... that track was recorded and intended for When All Else Fails in lieu of "Do Nyanono." It will - undoubtedly - appear on The Unforgivable.

The Unforgivable, the Unforgettable (EP) - July 27, 2008

I have exchanged one song for another on The Unforgivable, the Unforgettable: "13 Mirrors" for "The Monster I've Become." With that one change, I am considering dramatically changing the entire project. The songs on this album are supposed to be themed and focused on unforgivable/unforgettable people/events and reflection. I feel now that many of the songs originally selected for this album were done only for the sake of their presence on an album, and having them in this collection would be a bastardization of the other songs that clearly belong there. Some songs must be left off for the better of the album, and The Unforgivable, the Unforgettable may become an EP.

Recording Updates - June 12, 2008

The past year has been intense with unimaginable highs mirrored by new depths in lows. This year has profoundly affected not only my writing style but my approach to recording as well. I am starting the dissertation portion of my Master’s degree, and should be able to spend some time working on The Unforgivable, the Unforgettable and Thus Far this summer. I don’t believe that my traditional overdubbing methods will be capable of capturing the emotion that must be conveyed. I will be attempting to capture as much of The Unforgivable as possible using live recording methods. I hope to have both albums completed by September. It will probably come as no surprise to you that I will not be returning to America in October. I have decided to stay in England.

Descent into Insanity - April 28, 2008

I have not utilized my website to air personal grievances in awhile… and I think I’m due. I am already exhausted with the inaccurate explanations of Between 10 and 2. I haven’t bothered to explain it a single person, so now I will inform you all.

I was recording the album Thus Far when I halted all recording on that album to write and record Between 10 and 2 instead. Between had to be written and recorded right then and there, whereas Thus Far can be picked up and continued at anytime. Between 10 and 2 is a collection of progressive snapshots of a descent into insanity.

There is a lot more truth to Between 10 and 2 than fiction.

Cookie Cutter Beauty - February 21, 2008

I have already started to add clips that will be featured on the next album, which is still in the writing phase.

Very Big Weekend! - November 26, 2007

Last weekend was the first that Between 10 and 2 was available for purchase, and I am quite pleased to tell you that more albums were sold last weekend alone than total album sales over the last 2 years since When All Else Fails (EP) was released!

Thank you to all for your tremendous support!

Between 10 and 2 Now Available to Order - November 23, 2007

Finally... you can place your orders for Between 10 and 2. All orders will be filled before X-mas!

Attention Goth DJs - November 21, 2007

As though it were not sick and twisted enough... I am making a remix of "Rosalyn." If you are interested, get in touch with me, and be prepared to provide samples of your work (if I am not already familiar with your work).

DJs may request a promotional copy of Between 10 and 2 by emailing: tylean@tylean.com. Please include your full mailing address and mention of clubs, radio shows, etc. where you are currently hosting/spinning.

Next Album? - October 23, 2007

I am so... not fucking interested in finishing Thus Far.
I have quite a collection of songs and recordings that are already starting to fit together as a new album though. I'm thinking of calling it The Unforgivable, the Unforgettable. Both "Cookie Cutter Beauty" and "Blood Stained Walls" were cut from Between 10 and 2 very late in the recording process, so they should find their way on the next project.

Death of a President - October 19, 2007

If fake documentaries are true... the president should be assassinated today.

Successful Landing in the UK - October 13, 2007

Sorry for the delay… I have actually been here for 2 ½ weeks now, and I have just now had the opportunity to sit and listen to Between 10 and 2 in its entirety for the first time! (Completed before I left the States mind you. Under normal circumstances, I would have listened to the master at least 20 times within the first 48 hours). I must say, I am quite happy and impressed with it – especially knowing firsthand just how little time there was to pull this album off.

I would like to reiterate, however, that I am not anticipating rave reviews of this album. That’s okay though, because I recorded this album for one person, and one person alone: Me. Whether you love or hate the album… I could care less. The only critic I have to impress is myself, and Between 10 and 2 has successfully made it to the ranks of my exclusive and eccentric album collection.

Rosalyn has been posted! - September 16, 2007

The track "Rosalyn" from the upcoming Between 10 and 2 album has been posted and is ready to receive your disgust.

It's quite hard to listen to... don't say I didn't warn you!

Between 10 and 2 - September 12, 2007

Between 10 and 2 is not an album for the masses. Only a small and exclusive audience will be able to both tolerate and enjoy this level of perversion and distastefulness.

It is unnerving. It is intense.

Clips from the New Album - September 3, 2007

I have posted 5 clips from songs that will be included on the new album, Between 10 and 2, on my Vampirefreaks profile.

Come listen and let me know what you think...

"Rosalyn" - September 2, 2007

We finished tracking "Rosalyn" the other day. I feel it needs a disclaimer.

The cello isn't tuned.
There is no real time signature.
There is no real key signature.
It's very dry.
It's very disturbing.
It's very hard to listen to.
Based on a nightmare, it only encompasses a small fraction of the real horror.

You're not meant to like it. It's not supposed to be pretty. I'd be amazed if half of the people who own and LOVE the album are even capable of listening to it in it's entirety. It will be that track that you skip over every time...

and that's exactly what I'm trying to convey.

Green Dragon Podshow - August 24, 2007

"Out of Sight, Out of Mind" was included on the Wednesday, August 22nd Bitesize Bonus podcast by Green Dragon! (#440). The selection of music is a mixed bag, but in general, extremely good material, so I feel quite honored That "Out of Sight, Out of Mind" has been included.

Listen to the podcast now.

MCB Entertainment - August 17, 2007

I have signed with MCB Entertainment, an independent label out of Philly. They will be releasing the next album: "Between 10 and 2," sometime in October. The first track from the album is called "Out of Sight, Out of Mind," and plans for a music video are underway.

Unscene Magazine On Sale Today! - August 16, 2007

As you may or may not know... "Thus Far" has been shelved for awhile (possibly several years). However, do not despair! One of the feature tracks from "Thus Far" has been included on the sampler CD that accompanies Issue #5 of Unscene Magazine. The track is "Unspoken Thing," and this specific version of the song is exclusive to Unscene Magazine's sampler... never to be pressed again.
Order Unscene Now!

Last Chance for When All Else Fails at The Gallery of Sound - July 8, 2007

The window of opportunity to purchase When All Else Fails at any local Gallery of Sound location is closing. Since I have signed with MCB Entertainment, all of my distribution will be handled by them, and I am recalling all consignment contracts. I will also be recalling any copies that remain at Mugsy's in Bloomsburg in the near future.

Although you will still be able to get When All Else Fails (as well as the upcoming Between 10 and 2 and Thus Far albums) from The Gallery of Sound, it may not be as cheap or convenient to do so. I will not have as much control over the price, and I can't guarantee that The Gallery of Sound will regularly stock copies of my albums.

At the moment, The Gallery of Sound and Mugsy's are the most economical places to buy When All Else Fails, where it is priced at only $4.99... and NO SHIPPING!!!
